RICK HORTON


Rick Horton is a 1992 graduate of The Muscular Therapy Institute’s 1200-hour program. He took the first NCBTMB exam and completed Ben E. Benjamin’s Orthopedic Massage and Teacher Training programs. He has had a private practice since 1990 and was the Director of the Orthopedic Massage Program at the Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, Mass. beginning in 1994. Rick has taught various aspects of the Orthopedic Massage Program many US locals as well as Barcelona, Spain. His passion for teaching and keen technical knowledge in the field of bodywork make Rick's treatments and classes effective, focused, and informative.

Over the years Rick has had the opportunity to work with a variety of professionals. He was the team massage therapist for the New England Revolution during their first several seasons, and he initiated the massage program for the New England Patriots. Rick has traveled to Hawaii to work with several professional tri-athletes competing in the Hawaiian Ironman. His client list also includes professional musicians and celebrities, as well as Fortune 500 executives.

Rick's many years of working with athletes from a variety of disciplines has given him a deep understanding of the anatomy and kinesiology of the human body and an ability to work effectively with long-held patterns of stress and structural imbalance. Blending humor and compassion in his teaching and therapeutic work, Rick creates treatment plans that are as unique as his clientele. He balances a very busy private practice and teaching schedule, in addition to coaching and mentoring other massage therapists and students.
